William R. Tanner History Scholarship

The William R. Tanner History Scholarship is established in memory of William R. (Bill) Tanner, professor of history at Humboldt State University, 1970 to 1999; founder of History Day at the university; and author of “A View from the Hill”, a history of Humboldt State University. The Scholarship is intended to promote and encourage students pursuing an undergraduate degree in history by providing financial support for educational expenses. Recipients will be selected by a departmental scholarship committee. Eligible students are History majors with a 2.75 or better GPA and demonstrated financial need. Preference will be given to students who are residents of Humboldt County and freshmen. Amounts and numbers of scholarships are estimates, dependent on funding.
